The Wonderful World of Me
It’s not much, but it’s me…
I’m a pretty average looking twenty-three year old. Roughly five foot six in height, I am sadly slightly overweight with all of it centralizing in my hips. I suppose the silver lining is that they are good for child bearing? Anyway, I adore change. That being said, I am not entirely certain as to my natural hair color other than it is somewhere in the vicinity of light brunette. Currently, I’m rocking a short asymmetrical cut that’s shorter in the back and a rather vibrant shade of auburn with a few to-be-remedied patches of blond that my mom missed when dyeing my hair. Most people favor my smile but I adore my eyes. From a normal distance they look brownish; I even got the wonderful compliment of “baby poop brown” once. My eyes are, however, technically hazel but more green than brown if you really look as well as getting brighter green when I cry, but most people will never see me cry so your loss. My favorite thing about my eyes, though, is that they look like volcanoes from a bird’s eye view complete with dirt brown at the ridge blending into the green of foliage.
I don’t rebel often, but my latest rebellion was my nose ring. I paid money for someone to poke my nose with a hollow needle but I think it was worth it. I’m not all about the big and gaudy so all I ever had in it is a small rhinestone of varying colors, but if you see me playing with my nose it’s because of my nose ring. The other rebellions were two tattoos, one at the age of eighteen and the other at twenty but those are not visible because I believe tattoos are for me so there is no reason for them to be visible. Having my tattoos in hidden places makes even me forget about them sometimes though so I sometimes get a pleasant reminder of pain and meaning. As for a fashion style, I don’t think I really have one. I can be sporty one day and glamorous the next. I like to wear what I feel comfortable in and what I think looks cute on me and my body. Oh! Something I forgot is that I am your basic American of today by being a mutt but whatever heritage I have is very white. My skin is almost alabaster with smatterings of freckles that I loathed as a kid. I even had someone query, jokingly, if I white washed my legs but I refuse to go to a tanning bed and laying out is rather boring for me so I’ll just keep on being white and it’s fine by me.
What I like…
Ever since I was a little girl and exposed to the wonderful world of Disney, I have been hooked. Walt Disney created a world for me as a kid that, although skewed, was magical and hopeful and endearing. Even today, I pay eight dollars to go to the movie theater and watch animated movies with the same fervor and joy that I did at eight. One of my role models, sort of, as a kid was Belle from Beauty and the Beast. A couple of reasons for this is that she was not a blond haired blue eyed bombshell (it actually amuses me that Disney makes fun of that stereotype with the Bimbettes) but a brown haired, brown eyed beauty. Another reason Belle was, and still is, my favorite Disney princess is because she is an avid reader, preferring the intellect of a book to the arrogant superiority of Gaston. I saw myself as Belle on numerous occasions because of these traits as well as her outspokenness and courage in spite of her fear of Beast and the unknown.
Moving along in that vein, another love of mine is reading. School was never that challenging for me throughout elementary, middle, and high school which meant teachers could usually find me with my nose in a book and I was told on more than one occasion to put my book away and pay attention. My interests in reading are extremely varies. My favorite books as a kid were The Phantom Tollbooth by Norton Juster and Troubling a Star by Madeleine L’Engle.

In my adult years, I usually read romance novels and suspense/thrillers. When I find an author I like, I read everything they do. My current favorites are Stephanie Laurens (historical romance), J.R. Ward (paranormal romance), Douglas Preston and Lincoln Childs (suspense/thriller), and Matt Reilly (suspense/thriller).
I also love white tigers! There’s something about white animals that I think are just majestic with none more so than this graceful feline.
I also love, love, LOVE Starbucks. One was built in Kernersville, my hometown, just after I moved off to college which was fine because Greenville has about five. However, when I moved to Boone I quickly found out that they do not do Starbucks and it broke my heart. I get my fix by buying the regular ground coffee in the grocery store but nothing beats going home and heading to the local Starbucks with my dad to get a grande caramel macchiato. Mmmmm!
I am your basic American by being a mutt, as I said above, but I do know that a largish part of my heritage is Irish. I latch on that part with great fervor. I always wear my Claddagh ring, one of my tattoos is a four leaf clover, and I hope to visit Ireland one day and maybe even live there. I think it is one of the most beautiful places on earth with its rolling emerald green moors, steep cliffs overlooking tumultuous seas, and amazing architecture from days of old. The sexy accents aren’t bad either.
Some things I don’t much like…
One thing that really bothers me is bad spelling and grammar. Even though I realize having poor spelling and grammar does not necessarily point to an unintelligent person, I think having good grammar and spelling is important and sign of intelligence.
I absolutely loathe spiders! Small spiders I can handle but if they are bigger than a dime, I am not okay with them. I think it has something to do with how they creep and crawl on their eight spindly hairy legs. Creepy!!
One other thing I don’t like is when people play with their phone or try to have conversations with me during movies. I enjoy getting away from my everyday stresses while viewing movies and having that interrupted by flashes of phones and conversation irritates me. This may also have something to do with the fact that my first job was at the local movie theater back home and I got tired of hearing complaints about phone flashes and loud people. As workers, our favorite thing about working at the theater was getting to yell at the irritating middle schoolers that got dropped off by their loving parents.
I abhor losing. I grew up as the youngest of three with two older brothers and the only way for me to get noticed and included was to be better than they expected. This created an incredible competitive streak in me which encompassed everything from sports to academics. When I lose or get answers wrong it does something to my insides and makes me frustrated that I didn’t do better causing me to clam up. No one likes losing or being wrong but I think I have it a little worse than most.
Acting by Me!
